The Role of the Police Force

The functions of the Guardia Civil, the National Police and the local Police are extensive and are laid down in the “Act 2/1986 of the 13^th March, of Forces and Security Forces”.

Generally Local Police are responsible for law and order in the village; the Guardia civil for Traffic offences; stolen goods; violence etc and the National Police for more serious crimes. However many things overlap.

Appointments are every Wednesday and every 2^nd and 4^th Tuesday every month from 9.15-1.30p.m. Through the social worker you can arrange social assistance; request the card for those over 65 or any other query you have in relation to social services.

To obtain the Tarjeta 65 Card, you need to be registered on the Town Hall list and bring with you the following documentation: Photocopy of NIE; Passport size photo; an envelope.   To renew the card call   900 200 165.  Benefits of this card are discounts on bus fares; glasses and hearing aids; an emergency Tele-Assistance button for people living alone or who are ill; grants for building works in the home for disabled people; family respite care for those looking after a sick person.

The Health centre is in Avenida Blas Infante. There are 2 GP´s and 2 nurses assistants Monday to Friday 8.00-2.00p.m. From 2.00p.m.there is a doctor and a nurse’s assistant in attendance for emergencies 7 days a week. A paediatrician comes once a week.

The public open air swimming pool is on Avenida Cuidad de Eibar.

It is open from the end of June to the beginning of September.

Opening hours: June/July: Tuesday to Friday 1.00-7.00p.m. Weekends 11.00-8.00p.m. August: Tuesday to Sunday 11.00-8.00p.m. Village holidays 12.00-5.00p.m.

The Gym is in Calle Pino. Opening hours Monday to Friday 6.00-9.00p.m. Closed in August. Register in the Sports Office at the Town Hall Monday to Friday 8.00-3.00p.m. and Tuesday 5.00-6.00p.m.

The Catholic Church is on Calle San Antonio. Mass is held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8.00-8.30p.m. and in winter (after the clocks have gone back) 7.00-7.30p.m.. Sundays at 11.30a.m. Every day prayers with the rosary from 11.30-12.30a.m.

The Evangelic Church is on Calle Alcalde Francisco González.

Please note:
*Emergency health treatment is usually covered but anything else is chargeable such as the ambulance service.
** The Fire Station is on the other side of Antequera so please take into account that it will take a minimum of 30 minutes to arrive at the location.

All building work and demolition needs a license from the Town hall.

You are required by law to carry a form of identification around with you.

Keep plenty of copies of your documentation and some passport photos; they are nearly always required when completing any form of paperwork.

Permission is needed to have a bonfire.

What is the first thing I should do when I move into the area of Villanueva de la Concepción?
